Continuing Education Policy for Master Gardeners
Learning is a crucial part of being a Master Gardener. Each year, we Master Gardeners will need to participate in continuing education as a part of our certification requirements. This added learning helps keep us informed, involved and updated about research-based horticultural topics and advances. We can also learn about how to be a better volunteer and outreach educator.
Per the Wisconsin Master Gardener Program, Division of Extension, University of Wisconsin-Madison:
To Remain Active:
Master Gardeners must report a minimum of 1 hour continuing education (CE).
To be Certified:
Master Gardeners must report a minimum of 10 hours continuing education (CE).
The number of hours that a Master Gardener reports in the preceding year will determine whether or not they are active or certified for the current year.
(NOTE: Master Gardeners must also meet volunteering requirements. Click HERE for Master Gardeners' Volunteering requirements and a list of specific Volunteer Opportunities for SCVMGA Master Gardeners.)
Only certain educational activities count for Master Gardener Program continuing education hours. Use the Policy doc below as a guide to determine if the education program you want to participate in will qualify.
