MGV Annual Certification Requirements
Record Volunteer and Continuing Education(CE) hours and submit to
UW-Extensions's Diana Alfuth by October 1.
Intern MGVs (those having just completed MG Training)
- A minimum 24 hours volunteer service are required to complete your MGV certification
- Due to the time you put into your recent MG training course, additional continuing education (CE) hours are NOT required this first year (but you can record them anyway)
MGVs Re-certifying
- A minimum 24 hours of volunteer service and 10 hours continuing education are required annually to re-certify your MGV status
Certified MGVs Taking Additional Training Courses
- You can record both volunteer and continuing education hours. To determine the number of volunteer hours to be credited, check with the Extension Agent sponsoring your class. These hours apply to your annual re-certification requirement of 24 volunteer and 10 continuing education hours.
MGVs Inactive 5 or More Years
- Record volunteer and continuing education hours on this form
- A minimum 24 hours volunteer service and 20 hours CE are required
- Once re-certified, the requirements drop down to 24 V, 10 CE the following year
Out-of-State MG Seeking WI Certification
- Contact your UW-Extension agent for guidelines.
All volunteer projects and continuing education programs should be for UW-Extension sponsored programs/projects or community, civic group programs/projects approved by your local UW-Extension Agent.

For MG volunteer activities, you may count travel time from your home - to volunteer project - and back (minus personal errands) when calculating your volunteer service hours for that project.
MGs may also count any preparation or research time on projects in volunteer service hours.
Travel time to CE programs CANNOT be counted.
