UWRF Scholarships
The St. Croix Valley Master Gardeners Association awards a $1000 scholarship bi-annually for education at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The recipient is selected by the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences at University of Wisconsin-River Falls. The next SCVMGA Scholarship will be awarded for 2024-2025.
Scholarship criteria includes:
- Horticulture major with demonstrated interest in production of ornamental crops or professional landscaping
- Must be a junior or senior
- Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 with minimum major GPA of 3.33
- Preference given to permanent residents of Pierce or St. Croix Co.
2022-2023 Academic Year
Ian Schneider from Durand, Wisconsin, is our scholarship recipient this year, Ian is majoring in Horticulture with an emphasis in Landscape at UW-River Falls. Ian has made the Dean's list 3 out of the 4 last semesters. His plan is to become a sustainable landscape designer after graduation.
2020-2021 Academic Year
This year's scholarship recipient is Jillian Turbeville of Hammond, WI. Jillian is a Horticulture major/biotechnology minor in the Honors program. In addition to school, Jillian is the UWRF assistant greenhouse manager and the 2020 Bailey Nursery summer intern.
2018-2019 Academic Year
Sierra Hau, a Senior Horticulture Major from Brandon, WI in Fond du Lac County is our scholarship recipient this year. Sierra's part-time high school job as a floral clerk, her love for floral design and desire to learn about plant science drew her to pursue a UW-RF Horticulture degree.
2016-2017 Academic Year
The scholarship recipient is Amanda McCarty, majoring in Horticulture with a minor in Sustainability Studies and an emphasis in Agricultural Business at UW-River Falls.
2014-2015 Academic Year
The award recipient is Nicholas Peter, studying Horticulture/Landscape Design at UW-River Falls.
2012-2013 Academic Year
The inaugural scholarship was awarded to Brooke Gasteyer from Elmwood, WI.
